Senior Aerodynamics Engineer

As a key member of our team at EVONA, you will play a pivotal role in predicting and analyzing the complex aerodynamic and aerothermal conditions for spacecraft vehicles. Your expertise in computational fluid dynamics (CFD), thermal analysis, and fluid dynamics will be instrumental in ensuring the safe landing and recovery of our spacecraft.

Collaborating closely with our Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) and structures teams, you will ensure that our reusable spacecraft is designed, tested, and optimized for success during re-entry. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the success of our mission.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and enhance the aerodynamic database for spacecraft.
  • Lead the setup, meshing, and analysis of CFD models, focusing on compressible flow conditions from subsonic to hypersonic speeds.
  • Provide critical pressure, heat flux, and aero buffet/vibration loads for the thermal and structures teams.
  • Develop aerodynamic design solutions to solve unique re-entry challenges.
  • Validate simulations with data and improve models based on post-flight results.
  • Conduct hypersonic CFD simulations for chemically reacting flows (Mach > 5).
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in thermal analysis, heat transfer simulations, and CFD.
  • Proficient in NASA Fun3D, DPLR, Laura, US3D, or similar CFD tools.
  • Solid understanding of fluid dynamics—from subsonic to hypersonic flows.
  • Experience with compressible CFD models and validating simulation results.
  • A passion for solving complex engineering problems and driving innovation.
