Spacecraft Trajectory Optimization Specialist

At Blue Origin, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As a key member of our team, you'll play a critical role in the design and optimization of our spacecraft and launch vehicles.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in orbital mechanics and trajectory optimization, with experience in developing and implementing advanced algorithms and models. You'll work closely with our team of engineers and scientists to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our vehicles.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing trajectory optimization algorithms and models
  • Collaborating with the design team to ensure the integration of optimized trajectories into our spacecraft and launch vehicles
  • Conducting trade studies and sensitivity analyses to inform design decisions
  • Documenting and maintaining analysis inputs, models, and reports

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent technical field
  • 2+ years of experience in trajectory optimization, GNC, mission design, or advanced degree
  • Strong orbital mechanics fundamentals
  • Strong flight mechanics/dynamics fundamentals
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in launch, spacecraft, and reentry systems
  • Experience using trajectory analysis tools such as POST, OTIS, STK Astrogator, or Copernicus
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with aerodynamic modeling, stability, or control design
  • Experience using MATLAB/Simulink
