Surgical Technician Certified-Surgery-Methodist West

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Surgical Technician to join our team at Methodist West. As a Surgical Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms and providing exceptional patient care.
Responsibilities- Utilize critical thinking to perform job duties and maintain responsibility relating to surgical technology.
- Coordinate activities with registered nurses and other coworkers in planning and implementing care within hospital policies and legal limitations.
- Prepare the operating room for the arrival of surgical patients, assemble equipment, supplies, and instruments for surgical procedures according to preference cards and type of procedure.
- Assist the circulating nurse with patient care activities including transporting patient, surgical scrub prep, positioning, application of cautery ground pad, and tourniquet cuff.
- Perform urinary bladder catheterizations under the supervision of the circulating nurse.
- Maintain the integrity, safety, and efficiency of the sterile field. Use aseptic technique to arrange instruments and supplies. Perform instrument, sponge, and sharp counts.
- Demonstrate correct technique in handling of instruments, sutures, specimens, and medications.
- Consistently deliver high-quality care demonstrating surgical technology knowledge and skills in the operating room in accordance with established policies and procedures and standards of care.
- Demonstrate initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed customer expectations.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe environment.
- Utilize a holistic approach (considering physical, psych/social, spiritual, educational, safety, and related criteria) appropriate to the age of the patients served in the assigned service area.
- Demonstrate initiative to improve quality and customer service.
- Balances team and individual responsibilities, objective and open to other's views, gives and welcomes feedback, contributes to positive team goals, puts success of team above own interest.
- Assist with OR room turnover including opening sterile supplies and instruments.
- Perform routine cleaning on equipment.
- Successful completion of a surgical tech program from an accredited college.
- Previous surgical technician experience.
- Scrub tech certification required within 1 year of hire.
- Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
- Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain certification within three (3) months from date of hire.
