BAE Systems is seeking a skilled Linux Systems Administrator to support our team at the Engineering Research and Development Center (ERDC) in Vicksburg, Mississippi. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing standard Linux system administration duties to maintain the smooth operation of multi-user computer systems.
Key Responsibilities- System Administration: Set up administrator and service accounts, maintain system documentation, tune system performance, install system-wide software, and allocate mass storage space.
- Policies and Standards: Develop and monitor policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
- System Integration and Maintenance: Participate in the installation, integration, acceptance testing, and ongoing maintenance of our HPC systems and software environment.
- Resource Optimization: Assist with forecasting resource limitations and provide recommendations for increasing the efficiency of our resources through proper scheduling and load balancing techniques.
- Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of experience (additional experience may be substituted for the degree).
- Certifications: DoD 8570 certification - Security + and OS cert, Linux+, RedHat, etc. (90-day waiver may be provided to obtain the OS certification).
- Clearance Level: Must currently possess Secret clearance.
- Compiling and Installing Software: Experience with compiling, installing, and porting software.
- Application Scaling: Ability to understand application scaling issues related to problem resolution, algorithm choice.
- Storage Architectures: Experience with Storage Architectures: SAN, SAS, FC, SATA, Bandwidth, Performance.
- Application Benchmarking: Ability to manage development of appropriate application benchmarks, analyze results, and determine optimal configurations for processor type/speed, size of memory/cache, and memory interconnect fabric for customer problem domains.
- Security Implementations: Familiarity with multi-factor authentication platforms and solutions, and Identity Management such as OpenID, LDAP, and Kerberos.
- OS Hardening: Experience with OS hardening to DoD STIG standards.
- Programming and Troubleshooting: Experience programming or troubleshooting Python code.
- Web Server and Monitoring Tools: Experience with supporting Apache Web Server, Zabbix, Red Hat Satellite or Red Hat Identity Manager, BIND DNS, Ansible, and Gitlab.
