This role is a .3 FTE position involving a mix of 8 and 12-hour shifts during Evenings/Nights (7p-7a/11p-7a/3p-11p), with every other weekend off and holiday work as required.
Position Overview
ROLE SUMMARY:
Ensures the safety and security of patients, staff, and visitors; initiates necessary investigations and follow-ups. Safeguards hospital facilities, assets, and grounds as designated.
WORK HOURS: 12 hours/week
Week #1: Sunday 3pm-11pm
Week #2: Sunday 3pm-11pm, Monday 11pm-7am
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Qualified candidates must possess the capability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to execute the following tasks:
- Conduct patrols of designated areas, overseeing the facility and activities to ensure a secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
- Participate in pre-shift and post-shift briefings daily to stay informed about recent security events and incidents. Engage actively in this information exchange at the start and end of each shift.
- Maintain a detailed daily activity log documenting security responses and occurrences during shifts.
- Address requests for security assistance to manage emergency situations, investigate suspicious activities, de-escalate tense situations, and take appropriate actions as directed by supervisory personnel or hospital administrators.
- Investigate, document, and resolve security-related incidents. Report any misuse of hospital property or equipment to the appropriate authorities. Keep thorough records, notes, incident reports, and other documentation related to security activities.
- Respond to all internal specialized alarms and Condition Codes as necessary.
- Perform regular security inspections/audits of Lancaster General properties and grounds during non-business hours.
- Monitor all hospital premises, grounds, and parking facilities for security issues and potential safety risks.
- Oversee all parking areas and manage traffic flow on Lancaster General property.
- Provide constructive recommendations to Security Supervisors and management on enhancing the Security function.
- Engage in crime prevention initiatives collaboratively to proactively address security concerns before they arise.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety Basic Certification Program within one (1) year of employment is required.
- A valid State driver's license is mandatory.
- Completion of PPCI PATH, OCAT, and Defensive Tactics training within six (6) months of employment is necessary.
- Must complete Crisis Prevention Institution (CPI) Level 4 - Advanced Physical Skills training within six (6) months of employment.
- Basic CPR/AED certification must be obtained within six (6) months of employment.
- Ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of individuals from various cultural backgrounds.
- Capacity to work efficiently within a team setting.
- Proficiency in reading various materials, including books, magazines, instructions, and encyclopedias.
- Ability to prepare memoranda, reports, and essays using correct format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar.
- Skill in communicating clearly with appropriate pauses and emphasis, correct pronunciation, and varied word order; utilizing present, perfect, and future tenses.
