Position: Power Generation Controls Systems Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engineering Support: Deliver engineering design, assistance, and upkeep for Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and Distributed Control Systems (DCS), including Emerson Ovation and GE Mark VI.
  • Operational Solutions: Create and execute strategies for operational technology challenges, manage system obsolescence, and promote necessary upgrades.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide technical leadership and project assistance for power generation control systems. Collaborate with Operations and technical teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • System Oversight: Oversee and maintain control systems hardware and software, including updates, patch management, and network oversight.
  • Collaboration: Partner with control system software vendors and internal teams to address complex issues and implement control system logic, display adjustments, and custom functionalities.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Generate status reports, manage computing infrastructure, and supervise asset inventory.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Experience in Power Generation: Demonstrated experience in Power Generation Facilities or Plants.
  2. Industrial Control Systems Expertise: Practical experience with ICS.
  3. Distributed Control Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with DCS, particularly Emerson Ovation or GE Mark VI.
  4. Control Systems Hardware Management: Experience in upgrading, patching, and managing control systems hardware.

Preferred Skills:

  1. VMware Proficiency: Understanding of VMware vSphere, including vSAN, ESXi, and vCenter.
  2. Networking Acumen: Knowledge of networking principles and technologies.
  3. Scripting Abilities: Basic scripting knowledge.

Technical Competencies:

  • Server Management: Experience with server hardware and software, including deployment, maintenance, upgrades, and patching.
  • Software and Security Management: Familiarity with software related to patching, antivirus management, configuration management, network and system monitoring, and security event monitoring.

Essential Duties:

  • System Support: Provide control system software and hardware support for safe, optimal, and reliable operations.
  • Troubleshooting: Collaborate with Operations for troubleshooting and corrective actions related to instrumentation and programming logic.
  • Control System Development: Develop control system logic and custom functions as needed.
  • Vendor Coordination: Work with vendors for support on escalated issues.
  • User Administration: Manage user accounts and coordinate local and site failovers for maintenance tasks.
  • Testing and Updates: Test and apply security and application updates; assist with applying updates as needed.
  • Infrastructure Management: Oversee installed computing infrastructure and asset inventory.
  • Project Support: Support capital and operations and maintenance projects from business case development to installation and commissioning.

Note: Must be onsite from Day 1 in Las Vegas, NV, and travel to multiple Power Generation Facilities in the Vegas area.
