Location: Norfolk, VA

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the execution of various habitability initiatives and pinpoint available resources for these programs.
  • Assess the effectiveness of the aircraft carrier habitability program in relation to operational readiness for defined mission areas.
  • Offer expert guidance on the interpretation and application of assessment and readiness policies from higher authorities.
  • Support program management, technical expertise, and the continuity of habitability and quality of life systems aboard naval vessels.
  • Manage the Shipboard Habitability Program for assigned vessels, coordinating with various staff and external entities to enhance onboard living conditions.
  • Conduct inspections and monitor quality of life and habitability policies by staying informed about current living conditions through site visits.
  • Initiate and coordinate actions to uphold habitability standards established by relevant directives for naval vessels.
  • Assist in the initiation of habitability and quality of life modifications and repairs as necessary. Evaluate new systems and equipment for their impact on living conditions.
  • Coordinate the assessment and inspection of existing and new habitability systems, products, and materials.
  • Collaborate with program managers to optimize readiness assessments for the naval fleet, focusing on training, maintenance, and operational readiness.
  • Conduct ongoing evaluations of assessment reporting practices to identify areas for enhancement.
  • Maintain oversight of readiness assessment improvement actions and coordinate efforts between relevant naval commands.
  • Assist in the development of metrics as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Active Secret security clearance.
  • At least 5 years of experience with Microsoft products.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in all aspects of aircraft carrier operations, maintenance, and training.
  • Extensive knowledge of Naval Aircraft Carrier references and standards.
  • Proven ability to assess aircraft carrier readiness based on interactions with senior leadership.
  • Experience in implementing habitability programs and identifying available resources.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills for effective interaction with senior command levels.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Physical Requirements:

  • Willingness to embark on naval vessels.
  • Ability to navigate vertical ladders and stairs.
  • Capacity to carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds over distances.
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
  • Ability to move to complete tasks across various work sites.
  • Effective communication skills for information exchange.

Travel Requirements:

  • Occasional travel, less than 10%.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate identification credentials for travel.
