Mathematics Intervention Specialist

Position Overview
The Mathematics Intervention Specialist is responsible for delivering targeted Mathematics instruction in individualized or small group settings to enhance specific mathematical competencies of students who require additional support. Collaborates with school leadership and Mathematics educators to formulate and implement intervention strategies that align with standard classroom objectives, tailored to meet the needs of students identified as at-risk for achieving grade-level proficiency in Mathematics. Regularly assesses and reports on student progress, making necessary adjustments to instructional methods to foster improved mathematical outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver intensive Mathematics instruction to students at risk of underperforming in a personalized or small group format.
2. Identify students in need of intervention by analyzing data from state and district assessments, classroom performance, and other relevant metrics.
3. Collaborate with school administration to establish a schedule for individualized or small group Mathematics support based on data analysis.
4. Work in conjunction with classroom Mathematics teachers to ensure that intervention strategies are in harmony with regular instructional practices to enhance student success.
5. Maintain accurate records of student progress towards Mathematics achievement goals and communicate findings through a progress monitoring system.
6. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Experience: Minimum of three years of continuous teaching experience in Mathematics, particularly with at-risk populations.
Certifications: Florida Department of Education Certification in Elementary Education K-6 for Elementary interventionist; Math 5-9 or 6-12 for Secondary interventionist.
- Proficient understanding of district-approved instructional materials for Mathematics education and intervention.
- Strong familiarity with foundational Mathematics assessments and relevant data analysis tools.
- Knowledge of second language acquisition and oral language development.
- Ability to utilize various tools and applications for accessing student performance data.
- Comprehensive understanding of the MAFS and CCSS Mathematics Standards.
- Experience with diverse literacy assessment tools and diagnostic methods.
- Ability to effectively teach a variety of student demographics, including those from diverse ethnic backgrounds, economically disadvantaged students, students with disabilities, and English language learners.
- Competence in providing immediate and effective intervention strategies for Mathematics.
- Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Analytical and collaborative skills.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and best practices in education.
- Ability to model and coach effective research-based instructional strategies in various settings.
- Capacity to collect, analyze, and apply diverse data types to enhance student learning.
