Position Summary
The Certified Central Sterilization Technician is responsible for ensuring that all surgical instruments and equipment are sterile and ready for use in both inpatient and outpatient settings. This role is crucial in maintaining the highest standards of safety and hygiene in surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and supplies, adhering to established protocols.
- Monitor sterilization processes and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Assist in the training and orientation of new staff members in sterilization techniques.
- Participate in quality assurance activities to enhance operational efficiency.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in Central Sterilization and Processing is essential.
- Certification from either the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) or the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) is required.
- Commitment to ongoing education, with a minimum of 10 hours of continuing education annually.

The ideal candidate will possess:
- Strong ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in using sterilization equipment and tracking systems.
- Flexibility to adapt to various work environments and schedules.
Physical Requirements
This position requires:
- Prolonged periods of standing and the ability to lift and transport heavy objects.
- Willingness to work overtime and participate in weekend or holiday rotations as needed.
