Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Production Manager, this position is responsible for prepping vehicles and parts for paint and performing less complex painting jobs in accordance with factory and dealership specifications. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, two years of experience prepping vehicles for paint/touch-up work, and a valid driver's license. They should also possess working knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and machinery, as well as above-average mechanical and troubleshooting skills. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare panels for cleaning, sanding, priming, and other necessary procedures according to standard operating procedures.
  • Mix paint according to specifications and regulate consistency based on atmospheric conditions.
  • Paint standard vehicle surfaces and parts in accordance with factory and dealership specifications.
  • Maintain control of the paint booth environment as required.
  • Inspect painted units for runs, sags, and unpainted areas.
  • Hand-spray parts to cover unpainted areas or apply rust preventative.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; postsecondary training program preferred.
  • Two years' experience prepping vehicles for paint/touch-up work required.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to be insured by company insurance provider.
  • Ability to operate standard and manual transmissions.
  • Working knowledge of proper use of hand tools, power tools, and other machinery.
  • Ability to demonstrate above-average mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment: This position requires the technician to stand for eight hours per shift, frequently stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, and feeling. They will operate hand and power tools and be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials.
