Job Overview:

POSITION TITLE: Healthcare Pathway Peer Tutor, Internship
STATUS: Part-time
DEPARTMENT: Center for Academic Success in Healthcare
DIVISION: Nursing, Health and Public Services
REPORTS TO: Manager, Center for Academic Success in Healthcare
CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt
MINIMUM PAY RATE: $15.50 per hour

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Represent the institution professionally and uphold its core values.
2. Provide tutoring services to students in both individual and small group settings in the areas of Nursing and Pharmacology.
3. Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions and activities.
4. Engage with faculty and departments to promote tutorial services and other offerings of the Center for Academic Success in Healthcare.
5. Collaborate with coordinators to select appropriate instructional materials tailored to individual student needs.
6. Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development as required.
7. Assist with front desk duties as needed.
8. Support light administrative tasks, including maintaining the appearance of the Center, running errands, preparing materials, filing, and photocopying.
9. Aid in the promotion and coordination of programs and events.
10. Provide note-taking assistance as necessary.
11. Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Completion of at least one semester of college-level coursework with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
3. Enrollment in at least 6 credit hours at the institution.
4. Current student in a healthcare program.
5. Achieved an A or B in the subject area to be tutored, with preference for those who have completed multiple courses in the subject.
6. Availability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week.
7. Approval from the CASH Manager.
8. One faculty reference required.
9. Strong customer service skills.
10. Effective communication abilities with students and faculty.
11. Capacity to work independently while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with FERPA guidelines.
12. Patience, problem-solving skills, and a sense of responsibility.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Two or more faculty references.
2. Prior work experience.
3. Commitment to work in the Center for at least one full academic year.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Normal office physical demands.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Duties are performed indoors in a typical office environment.

WORK SCHEDULE:
• Varies by semester; multiple interns may be hired each semester.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: This internship accommodates your class schedule, allowing for up to 20 hours per week during fall and spring semesters, and up to 28 hours per week during summer and holiday breaks with supervisor approval.
