Job Title: Behavioral Health Nurse

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Behavioral Health Nurse to join our team at Della Infotech. As a Behavioral Health Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to patients struggling with mental illness and their families.

Job Summary:

The Behavioral Health Nurse will be responsible for assessing, supporting, and coordinating care for patients across the behavioral health care continuum. This includes providing education and resources to patients, families, and community members, as well as collaborating with treatment teams and providers to ensure seamless transitions of care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and evaluate patients' physical, psychosocial, environmental, spiritual, social, and educational needs.
  • Work collaboratively with treatment teams to achieve desired patient care outcomes and ensure smooth transitions of care.
  • Provide learning opportunities to meet the educational needs of patients, families, or community members.
  • Document patient information in the electronic medical record in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Provide competent patient care to patients of all ages, including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.
  • Effectively communicate patient changes and conditions to colleagues and multidisciplinary caregivers.
  • Provide assessments, care coordination services, and support to various locations within the hospital.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to provide coverage to other areas in the Behavioral Health Service Line.
  • Perform related age-specific patient care duties in various environments.
Requirements:
  • Current RN licensure in the state of Iowa.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Previous clinical experience in a psychiatric treatment setting, acute care preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years clinical experience.

  • Ability to be non-judgmental regarding living and health-related decisions.
  • Ability to work with clients and families with diverse opinions and diverse religious and cultural ideals and values.
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal direction and be directly accountable for practice.
  • Organization, critical thinking skills, and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with physicians.
