Role Summary

At Community Health Net, we are seeking a skilled Healthcare Referrals Coordinator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing patient insurance referrals, consultations, and diagnostic procedures.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Schedule consultation and diagnostic appointments, as requested by healthcare providers, and document necessary information.
  • Complete accurate and timely forms for insurance and specialty offices, as required.
  • Obtain authorization for appointments from insurance providers.
  • Communicate with patients to provide appointment details, preparation information, and answer questions regarding referrals.
  • Screen calls, take messages, and provide information regarding patient referrals.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure necessary patient information is received for referral completion.
  • Reschedule missed appointments after the 30-day patient responsibility window has elapsed.
  • Track referrals in the database, including post, no-show, cancelled, and rescheduled appointments.
  • Review encounters for changed insurance information and demographics, as needed.

Required Skills

  • Proficient in word processing, data processing, data input, and searching on computer applications.
  • Strong organizational skills, prioritization skills, and a systematic approach to work with high accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently and act on own initiative.
  • Fluent in English, with bi-lingual skills a plus.
  • Understanding of medical terminology.

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Medical Secretary Certification or equivalent experience preferred. Two (2) years of related experience preferred.
