Job Summary

Amarillo College is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Supplemental Instructor to join our team. As a Supplemental Instructor, you will play a critical role in supporting students in achieving their academic goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Co-teach and provide supplemental instructions in Math, Reading, Language, Listening, Speaking, and Writing.
  • Prepare lesson plans and manage classroom using high engagement practices and retention strategies.
  • Perform administrative duties to maintain compliance with the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) grant.
  • Prepare students for the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) state or national discipline-specific exams to successfully receive credentials.
  • Instruct students on topics needed to earn HSE, transition into college, support academic students in certificate programs, and obtain employment to earn a living wage.
  • Scan and mail copies of sign-in sheets weekly.
  • Run TEAMS reports and use other Adult Education computer systems.
  • Record student clock hours daily using Google Docs and submit completed copies to the date management system.
  • Manage valid TWC pre-assessment and progress assessments.
  • Collaborate with instructors to develop students' needs and progress.
  • Attend staff meetings and in-service training.
  • Assist with new student enrollment process.
  • Perform other work-related duties as required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field.
  • One (1) year of performing administrative duties, teaching experience in higher education or K-12.
  • Ability to teach Adult Basic Education and High School Equivalency.
  • Ability to use various instructional methods, materials, and techniques to address all learning styles and cultural differences.
  • Ability to work under stress, independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to develop positive working relationships with students.
