At Nuvance Health, we have a network of convenient hospital and outpatient locations. Our team is committed to providing top-notch patient care, and we're seeking a skilled Patient Care Technician to join our Gastroenterology unit.

About the Role

This per diem position requires a high school diploma and at least one year of job-related experience. As a Patient Care Technician, you'll assist with patient care activities and other unit tasks under the supervision of licensed professionals. You'll maintain all aspects of Nursing Assistant duties, provide clerical support, coordinate unit activity, and communicate effectively with healthcare teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform Level 1 Patient Care Technician functions and float to maintain high-quality patient care.
  • Implement nursing orders promptly, understanding their purpose in relation to each patient's plan of care.
  • Conduct unit-related activities and/or clerical duties to support nursing staff.
  • Demonstrate competency in at least one additional function, such as monitor tech or unit coordinator, and act as a preceptor when necessary.
  • Order and maintain necessary supplies and equipment for the unit, ensuring everything is readily available and in working order.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and records.
  • Coach new staff in service excellence standards.
  • Develop effective working relationships with healthcare teams, patients, and significant others.
  • Work as a Safety Attendant by creating a safe environment for specific patients.
  • Adequately use communication technology.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly environment.
  • Follow WCHN standards of service excellence.
  • Complete 6 hours of continuing education annually.
  • Fulfill all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
Requirements:

This role requires a minimum formal education of High School Diploma and a minimum of one year job-related experience. Current PEP rating at meets expectations or better is preferred. Must maintain skills and competencies necessary for the position. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification is a plus.
