Role Summary:

The Graduate Assistant in this role will work closely with first-year students, providing guidance and support in developing essential academic skills. This position is designed to enhance the professional development of graduate assistants through hands-on experience in coaching methodologies and learning strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a caseload of approximately 50 first-year students and respond to early alerts.
  • Assist students in identifying academic challenges and developing independent problem-solving skills.
  • Connect students with appropriate campus resources and services.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of student interactions.
  • Participate in weekly training sessions and team meetings.
  • Communicate effectively and apply essential coaching techniques.
  • Develop core competencies as outlined by professional coaching standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Time Commitment:

This position requires a commitment of 20 hours per week during standard office hours, with some flexibility for evening and weekend work as needed.

Compensation:

Graduate assistants will receive a stipend for their contributions to the Academic Achievement Center.

Qualifications:
  • Strong academic record and commitment to student success.
  • Ability to engage professionally with diverse groups of individuals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable presenting to various audience sizes.
  • Proficient in basic computer applications, with additional training provided.
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic educational environment.
  • Prior experience in coaching, mentoring, or teaching is preferred.
Eligibility Criteria:

To qualify for this position, candidates must maintain good academic standing, be enrolled full-time, and meet employment eligibility requirements.
