Assembler Job Description

Purpose

This is an entry-level position that performs repetitive assembly operations to mass-produce products such as windows, doors, trusses, panels, or stairs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble parts in specified relationships.
  • Fasten parts together using bolts, clips, screws, or cement.
  • Cut products to specific measurements as needed.
  • Remove defective products as needed.
  • Tend machines to perform force fitting or fastening operations on the assembly line.
  • Work at different workstations as production needs require.
  • Clean equipment, floors, and work areas according to safety procedures.
Requirements
  • No prior experience or education required.
  • Prior carpentry experience is helpful.
Competencies
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Verbal expression ability to effectively present information.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • Ability to read a tape measure.
Work Environment/Physical Activity
  • Continuous standing, using hands to handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, and talking or hearing.
  • Continuous walking.
  • Occasional climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds continuously, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
