We are seeking a skilled Histology Technician to join our team at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing surgical specimens for microscopic examination by the Pathologist, ensuring that all quality control policies and biohazard regulations are followed.
Key Responsibilities- Process tissues using dehydration, embedding, cutting, staining, decalcification, and frozen section cryostat methods.
- Prepare specimens for microscopic examination, ensuring that all quality control policies and biohazard regulations are followed.
- Perform procedures within established turn-around-times and maintain a clean, well-organized work area.
- Respond to out of range QC conditions and document and track specimens in the laboratory tracking system.
- Report promptly all "near misses," potential, and actual errors, and provide suggestions for error prevention.
- Knowledge of section specific test methodology and instrumentation.
- Baccalaureate Degree in medical technology or related science (preferred).
- Previous experience as a Histology Tech (preferred).
- American Society for Clinical Pathology certification for Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) (preferred).
