Job Title: Fire Operations Supervisor

Total Safety is seeking a highly skilled Fire Operations Supervisor to join their team. As a key member of the safety-conscious team, you will be responsible for supervising two or more full-time employees in an operation that provides customer service in areas including service and repair of portable and semi-portable fire extinguishers, life safety equipment, fire detection systems, gas detection systems, foam systems, dry chemical systems, gaseous fire suppression systems, and water-based fire protection systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and implement daily/weekly schedules and operating priorities for assigned teams to minimize downtime and ensure compliance with established regulatory, safety, operating standards, policies, and emergency response procedures.
  • Ensure that teams are producing at or above communicated production, quality, and safety goals, and that resources are being utilized to achieve objectives.
  • Provide leadership in achieving health and safety goals, proactively identifying safety and environmental issues, and ensuring compliance with Federal, State, Company, and client standards.
  • Maintain adequate and accurate inventory and daily status reports to sustain a state of readiness of tools and equipment, and assist in conducting periodic audits of repair parts, rental, and equipment inventories.
  • Work with Sales, Customer Service, and other internal departments to communicate and resolve customer concerns promptly, and report status of operational issues to managers on an ongoing basis.
  • Ensure that all documentation and data entry associated with inspection and repair is completed promptly and accurately, including all inspection and repair documents, job cost billable expenses, and time sheets.
  • Complete required reports and communication in a timely manner, and partner with human resources for hiring and firing, performance evaluation, salary, and job change actions.
  • Ensure that all personnel receive safety and procedure training, and coach teams to improve technical skills and interpersonal and problem-resolution skills.
  • Plan and oversee a preventive maintenance program, and ensure that equipment and other accessories are properly maintained and in top working condition.
  • Develop procedures for assigned operations, assist with establishing work standards for assigned areas, and assist with planning and implementing both short and long-term departmental goals and objectives.
Requirements:
  • At least five (5) years of field experience in fire protection, petrochemical, oil refinery, or related industry, with supervisory experience preferred.
  • A valid driver's license from the state of residence and valid proof of vehicle insurance, with a safe driving record and insurability for Total Safety vehicle insurance while driving company trucks.
  • Ability to travel to customers' sites and availability for travel for short and long-term out-of-town and/or offshore projects.
  • Must obtain TWIC card and other safety-related badges/certifications as needed.
  • Thorough knowledge of Total Safety products and services in assigned areas, with State Fire Marshal licenses for appropriate areas of service and NICET level II certification in the appropriate area(s).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, and other database software, with the ability to quickly learn new software applications utilized by the company.
  • Commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations, an unwavering commitment to safety and health, and other company policies and procedures.
  • High ethical standards demonstrated by their approach to business, with leadership and the ability to coordinate resources to achieve maximum profitability, efficiency, and utilization.
  • Understanding and effective management of key financial issues that impact service and operations functions and the business, with experience with budget preparation and cost control.
  • Ability to prepare accurate, effective, complete, and easily understood written communications and reports, with proficiency in the care and use of all site-specific, facility, and customer-required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).
  • Trained in Respiratory Protection and fully certified to wear respiratory breathing equipment (Fit Tested).
  • Ability to work and lead in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
Working Environment:
  • Combination of office, shop, indoor, and outdoor industrial environments, with frequent exposure to cold, hot, wet, humid, outside weather conditions, and vibration.
  • May be exposed to high pressure, chemicals, and traffic, with a moderate noise level in the work environment.
Education:
  • High School diploma or GED, with an Associate's degree in science or technical area strongly preferred.
