About the Role

The Residential Counselor will work with a dynamic team to provide support services for residents at Crotched Mountain School & Village, a program of Seven Hills New Hampshire. This role involves aligning student education and residential services with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and Intervention Life Plans (ILPs). The successful candidate will also assist residents with daily routines, complete required record-keeping, and supervise activities suited to each resident's capabilities.

Job Responsibilities

The Residential Counselor will be responsible for:

  • Aligning student education and residential services with IEPs and ILPs;
  • Assisting residents with daily routines;
  • Completing required record-keeping and data collection;
  • Selecting and supervising activities suited to each resident's capabilities;
  • Attending program and behavior meetings, orientation, and training sessions;
  • Performing household chores with or without student assistance;
  • Ensuring residents are dressed appropriately, respecting their rights and dignity;
  • Advocating for and protecting clients' rights per current policies and procedures;
  • Maintaining a mature and positive attitude with residents, staff, and guardians;
Work Environment

Residential Counselors work on a 4-day work week with four shifts to choose from. Overtime is available to pick up additional hours. The work environment is therapeutic, encouraging students to explore and thrive in a preserved habitat.

Qualifications

To be eligible for this role, candidates must be at least 21 years old, have a valid driver's license, and meet one of the following requirements:

  • A High school diploma or equivalent plus an Associate degree or higher with a minimum of 12 credits in Human Services, Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field;
  • A parent of a child over 7 years old;
  • Two years of full-time paid or volunteer experience working with children (3000 hours);
  • A combination of college credits in the field and experience working with children that totals two years.
