Position Overview

The Imaging Services Technician is responsible for conducting a range of diagnostic imaging procedures while ensuring adherence to patient safety protocols. This role serves as the primary point of contact for patients, facilitating their imaging requirements effectively. Participation in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives is expected. Technicians in our Free-Standing Emergency Rooms are also skilled in laboratory operations and may assist in various laboratory tests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute intricate tasks related to the operation of Computed Tomography, X-ray, and other imaging devices to generate specialized images of designated body areas.
  • Implement radiation safety protocols and protective measures to comply with regulatory standards, ensuring the safety of both patients and staff.
  • Gather comprehensive and precise patient medical histories, alerting the Radiologist when necessary.
  • Assess patients for CT contrast safety prior to conducting procedures.
  • Clearly explain procedures to patients and monitor their comfort and safety throughout the examination.
  • Collaborate with clerical staff and fellow technologists to ensure seamless workflow.
  • Initiate intravenous lines and administer contrast media as per established protocols.
  • Observe and report any abnormal patient conditions or reactions to the physician.
  • Provide laboratory care for patients across all age groups utilizing various laboratory techniques.
  • Foster positive working relationships with colleagues and other departments to achieve optimal quality outcomes in laboratory practices.
  • Conduct both waived and moderate complexity manual and automated testing.
  • Independently perform a diverse array of laboratory procedures in Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Immunology, and Coagulation.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instruments to ensure peak performance.
  • Accurately identify patients while collecting and processing specimens for laboratory analysis.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Radiology technologist program is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in Computed Tomography is preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience in an Emergency Room setting is advantageous.
  • Prior experience in laboratory environments is preferred.
  • Experience in a fast-paced work setting is desirable.
  • Current ARRT and TDH licenses are required.
  • Registration in Computed Tomography is preferred.
