Role Summary:
The Community Engagement Coordinator plays a vital role in enhancing the career preparedness of students by facilitating practical experiences such as internships, co-ops, job shadowing, and clinical placements. This position requires the development and delivery of informative presentations, collaboration with high school and college internship coordinators, and the establishment of robust partnerships with employers to secure valuable opportunities for students. The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual capable of nurturing positive relationships with both prospective and current students while adhering to institutional policies and objectives. Travel is a requirement, with responsibilities spanning multiple locations.


Mission Statement:
This role is integral to upholding the institution's commitment to its Catholic identity and mission to empower graduates to effect societal change. As a member of the Newman community, the staff member will collaborate with the institution's sponsors to embody the values of compassion, unity, and respect for diverse faiths and backgrounds.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Recruit and advise students on career opportunities.
  2. Create and present workshops on career paths in education, business, and healthcare.
  3. Work with high school internship coordinators to facilitate student experiences.
  4. Organize resume-building workshops.
  5. Conduct mock interviews to prepare students.
  6. Coordinate internships and co-op placements.
  7. Arrange job shadowing experiences.
  8. Identify and secure clinical placements.
  9. Organize and participate in job fairs for various career fields.
  10. Develop and oversee a paid internship program.
  11. Collaborate with employers for apprenticeship placements.
  12. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Associate's degree required; bachelor's degree in management, sociology, education, or a related field preferred.
  2. Minimum of two years of experience working with employers or community partners; experience with college students and job placement is preferred.
  3. Strong organizational abilities.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Must possess legal authorization to work in the United States.

Benefits:

  1. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with a 12-month commitment.
  2. Paid time off and benefits commence after the first 30 days of employment.
  3. Approximately 20 paid days off for holidays/breaks, plus an additional two weeks of vacation accrued annually.
  4. Tuition waiver available for employees, spouses, and eligible dependents after one year of service.
