The Medical Laboratory Technologist is responsible for executing automated, semi-automated, and/or manual procedures in specimen analysis and demonstrates expertise in techniques across bacteriology, parasitology, mycology, hematology, serology, chemistry, immunology, immunohematology, and flow cytometry as required for the role.
You will accurately conduct waived, moderate, and high-complexity laboratory tests pertinent to your assigned area.You will perform quality control and preventive maintenance while evaluating results for acceptability.
You will ensure specimen integrity throughout the testing process.
A bachelor's degree in medical technology from an accredited institution and a successful score on a national certification examination approved by the State Board is required; completion of three years of academic study, with a minimum of 90 semester hours at an accredited college or university in a curriculum involving biological or physical science, and at least 12 months of training at a school of medical technology accredited by a national agency, followed by passing a national certification examination. A bachelor's degree in one of the chemical, physical, or biological sciences from an accredited institution, along with at least one year of additional full-time experience or training in the specialty or subspecialty in which tests are performed, and passing a national certification examination approved by the State Board is also acceptable.
Experience in a large clinical laboratory and pediatric hospital setting is preferred; however, we will consider recent graduates from accredited Medical Technology programs.
