Position Overview

As a Licensed Dental Hygienist, you will be essential in fostering and maintaining oral health within our practice. Your key duties will encompass performing dental cleanings, educating patients on effective oral hygiene practices, and collaborating with the dental team to guarantee comprehensive patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive dental evaluations, including reviewing medical histories and assessing oral health conditions.
  • Perform screenings for oral cancer and other dental conditions.
  • Administer professional dental cleanings, including scaling, root planing, and prophylaxis.
  • Eliminate plaque, tartar, and stains from teeth.
  • Instruct patients on effective oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, and dietary advice.
  • Provide recommendations for maintaining optimal oral health between dental visits.
  • Assist in diagnosing and treating periodontal diseases.
  • Collaborate with the dentist to formulate treatment plans for patients with gum disease.
  • Take and process dental X-rays as part of the diagnostic procedure.
  • Ensure adherence to radiation safety protocols.
  • When appropriate, apply fluoride treatments and dental sealants to prevent cavities.
  • When necessary, administer antimicrobial agents to manage periodontal disease.
  • Maintain accurate and current patient records, including documenting treatment plans and procedures performed.
  • Record clinical notes and observations.
  • Work closely with the dentist and dental assistants to coordinate patient care.
  • Engage in case discussions and treatment planning.
  • Follow strict infection control protocols to maintain a safe and sterile environment.
  • Sterilize and care for dental instruments and equipment.
Qualifications
  • Degree from an accredited dental hygiene program.
  • Current and valid state dental hygiene license.
  • Proficient in performing dental cleanings and other preventive procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of dental anatomy, oral pathology, and periodontal diseases.
  • Familiarity with dental instruments and equipment.
  • Certification in dental radiography.
  • Competence in taking and processing dental X-rays.
  • Commitment to ethical standards and patient confidentiality.
  • Dedication to continuing education and staying updated on industry trends.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a dental team.
  • Strong commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
