- Understanding and complying with performance standards, policies, and professional behaviors.
- Utilizing comprehensive pharmacy processes to address the specific medication needs of patients, incorporating medication education, safety, and patient rights into daily practices.
- Implementing and monitoring infection control measures, participating in performance improvement and risk management initiatives, and demonstrating competency through established standards.
- Employing effective decision-making strategies, including recognition, data collection, prioritization, resource utilization, and collaborative suggestions with the healthcare team.
- Exhibiting punctuality and effective time management, ensuring that personal activities do not interfere with professional responsibilities.
- Demonstrating commitment through participation in in-services, projects, and personal development, while maintaining all required licensing standards.
- Taking accountability for meeting competency standards and responding constructively to feedback.
- Maintaining professionalism and cooperation in response to changes and assisting peers through effective communication.
- Exhibiting flexibility in staffing and adjusting to various assignments.
- Upholding a positive attitude and managing conflict resolution effectively.
- Practicing cost containment measures.
- Adhering to all policies, procedures, dress codes, and customer service standards.
- Supervising Pharmacy Assistants as needed.
- Performing additional related duties as assigned.
Education and experience requirements include:
- Graduation from an accredited School of Pharmacy with a minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
- Current registration as a pharmacist in New York.
- Successful completion of the hospital and departmental orientation program in accordance with pharmacy policies.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Effective two-way communication skills, clearly defining expectations and actively listening to concerns.
- Proficiency in pharmaceutical calculations and maintaining departmental competencies.
- Commitment to continuing education as required for licensure.
- Ability to maintain composure under stress and act as a professional role model.
Candidates must be able to:
- Perform tasks that may involve exposure to hazardous chemicals, as outlined in the hospital's Safety Data Sheet database.
- Ambulate or remain stationary for extended periods and perform tasks requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
- Concentrate on detailed tasks with minimal interruption and manage multiple responsibilities throughout the day.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external customers and inspect deliveries for accuracy.
