Position Overview

The Pre-Owned Vehicle Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality and performance of our vehicles. This position involves executing repair and maintenance tasks as assigned, adhering to the standards set by the dealership and manufacturer.


The ideal candidate will possess 2-3 years of experience in mainline or used vehicle reconditioning, with a preference for those familiar with luxury automotive brands.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and review repair orders from the service dispatcher.
  • Execute tasks as specified on the repair order with precision and efficiency, in line with dealership and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Identify the root cause of any issues and carry out necessary repairs.
  • Collaborate with the parts department to procure required components.
  • Preserve and label parts if the service is under warranty or upon customer request.
  • Inspect vehicles to assess if additional safety or service work is necessary.
  • Inform the service advisor promptly if any additional work is deemed unnecessary.
  • Communicate with the service advisor immediately if repairs cannot be completed within the promised timeframe.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed.
  • Conduct road tests on vehicles when necessary or refer to the designated test technician, ensuring customer vehicles are not used for personal errands.
  • Oversee the work of any apprentice technicians assigned to you.
  • Participate in factory-sponsored training sessions.
  • Stay updated on factory technical bulletins.
  • Ensure that customer vehicles are maintained in a clean condition.
  • Keep the workshop area organized and ensure accountability for all dealership-owned tools.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local regulations regarding hazardous waste disposal.
  • Adhere to all company safety protocols and report any incidents to a manager or supervisor immediately.
