Position Overview

The Lead Psychiatric Care Technician plays a crucial role in the delivery of mental health services by facilitating both individual and group therapeutic programs. These programs are designed to be engaging and are executed through a combination of planned, spontaneous, structured, and unstructured activities that align with the overall active treatment framework and the personalized care plans of patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guide and support the implementation of treatment activities, ensuring they are consistent with each patient's comprehensive treatment strategy.
  • Provide mentorship and training to Direct Service Associate II staff, who operate under the title of Psychiatric Technician I.
  • Perform direct nursing care tasks under the supervision of a registered nurse, ensuring high standards of patient care.

Essential Qualifications

  • A valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Proven capability to follow both written and verbal instructions, along with accurate observation and reporting skills.
  • Strong command of the English language, both spoken and written.
  • Capacity to learn and implement basic care and treatment plans, as well as respond appropriately to various emergencies.
  • Physical ability to meet the demands of the role, including standing, bending, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Completion of the facility's Pre-service training program for Direct Support Professional Staff, including CPR/First Aid Certification and behavioral management techniques.

Work Schedule

This position is designated for evening shifts.

Additional Considerations

  • Experience with individuals exhibiting aggressive behaviors or mental health challenges is preferred.
  • Relevant education or experience in working with individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities or in the healthcare sector is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with program activities related to recreation, communication, vocational, and educational programming is desirable.
