Key Responsibilities
- Support nursing staff by executing essential care tasks that ensure the comfort and personal needs of patients are met.
- Assist with dressing, grooming, bathing, feeding, and monitoring vital signs of patients.
- Respond to call lights, aid in toileting, provide oral and nail care, assist with catheter care, transport patients in wheelchairs, reposition bedridden patients, report changes in patient conditions, and manage waste disposal.
- Must hold certification as a Nurse Assistant; duties performed must align with the Standards of Practice as defined by certification.
- Deliver straightforward or uncomplicated patient care.
- Maintain cleanliness of patient rooms and change bed linens.
- Measure and document temperature, pulse, and respiration rates.
- Administer medications as instructed by a Physician or Nurse and accurately record the dosage and timing.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Possess a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record as per agency policy.
- Certification as a CNA or Home Health Care Aide is required in the state where care is provided.
- Completion of an accredited home care aide training program or a minimum of 6 months of relevant experience.
- Ability to utilize proper body mechanics while lifting; may be required to lift up to 75 lbs.; must be capable of sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods, as well as bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and reaching.
