About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Senior Structural Engineer to join our Wisconsin Operations team in Milwaukee, Madison, or Appleton areas. As a key member of our Infrastructure & Transportation Practice, you will work directly under the supervision of the Department Manager - Bridges & Structures, focusing on highway and railway related structures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the structural design for all project types, including complex bridge designs;
  • Lead the planning and schematic/geometric layout of new structures;
  • Perform analysis and design calculations according to the applicable design codes; use computer programs as appropriate;
  • Prepare plan drawings and details, construction specifications and design calculations;
  • Lead on-site inspection, analysis and condition assessment of existing structures;
  • Perform Construction and Life Cycle Cost estimates and prepare load rating calculations;
  • Oversee project construction administration including reviews of shop drawings and Requests for Information;
  • Supervise and direct staff engineers and technicians to meet project deadlines as well as scope and budget requirements; and
  • Assist project managers with scoping and budgeting for structural work and be responsible for quality assurance of deliverables.
Requirements
  • 10 years progressively responsible relevant experience;
  • MS in Civil Engineering - Structures track required;
  • Licensed PE in Wisconsin or ability to obtain;
  • Bridge Inspection experience, including NHI Course preferred;
  • Prior experience with complex bridge projects a plus;
  • Knowledge of bridge analysis, design and detailing as it pertains to WisDOT Bureau of Structures requirements, and local agencies and applicable design codes as appropriate;
  • Knowledge of structural analysis software including MDX, LARSA, PS Beam (or CON-SPAN), ET Pier/SP Column (or equivalent), AASHTOware, L-Pile/GROUP, PY-WALL (or equivalent) preferred;
  • Proficient with AutoDesk Civil3D, MS Office software, and/or Bentley's MicroStation;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to direct and supervise staff engineers and technicians;
  • Strong leadership, project management skills and the ability to work in a team environment;
  • Ability to mentor structural engineers.
