Job Summary

The Cytogenetics Technologist position at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is responsible for performing complete chromosomal analysis and/or FISH analysis using high resolution microscopes and a digital imaging system. This role requires a strong understanding of cytogenetics and molecular biology principles, as well as excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform chromosomal analysis and/or FISH analysis on blood, bone marrow, and solid tumor specimens
  • Use high resolution microscopes and a digital imaging system to examine specimens
  • Develop and implement new procedures and protocols as needed
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff and clinicians to ensure accurate and timely results
  • Maintain accurate records and reports of laboratory results

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a biological science or certified cytogenetics degree program
  • MT (ASCP) certification or equivalent
  • Post-degree experience in a cytogenetics lab setting and experience in cancer cytogenetic analysis desired
  • Certification as CG (ASCP) required within 2 years of start date
