Job Summary:

The Instructional Assistant will work under the supervision of a certificated teacher to provide individualized support to students with special needs. This may include assisting with lesson planning, implementing instructional strategies, and providing feedback to students.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist teachers in classroom instruction by providing and preparing lesson materials, monitoring students during their work, and helping them in their learning where necessary.
  • Observe students' activities to ensure student safety and well-being and intervene when necessary.
  • Ensure that the necessary materials for teaching a class, such as visual aids, are prepared, up-to-date, and present in the instruction space.
  • Familiarity with the inner workings of the school, including the structure of the relevant education support and management, policies, and regulations.
Requirements:
  • Associate Degree or 60 completed college credit hours, or a passing score for the Para Pro test. Documentation is required.
Physical Requirements:
  1. Seldom = Less than 25 %
  2. Occasional = 26 to 50 %
  3. Very Frequent = 76 % & above
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to carry 25 pounds
  • Ability to work at a desk, conference table, or in meetings of various configurations
  • Ability to see for the purpose of reading laws and codes, rules, and policies and other printed matter
  • Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels
