The facility processes and ships over 40 million pounds of product to clients across North America, catering to the industrial, food, feed, and pet food markets.

POSITION SUMMARY

This role is pivotal for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the plant, with a primary focus on grain flaking and utility operations. Flexibility to work extended hours, holidays, and weekends is essential, along with other responsibilities as assigned by management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Safety, Health, and Regulatory Compliance: Actively engage with the safety program, ensuring adherence to all relevant laws and plant safety initiatives. Maintain necessary operating permits and certifications for boiler and utility operations.
  2. Quality Assurance: Utilize a process-oriented approach to resolve issues, collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders. Experience with TQM, 5-S, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies is advantageous. Lead flaker operations to meet customer quality and service expectations.
  3. Sanitation and Food Safety: Support and adhere to GMPs and HACCP programs, contributing to successful audits and food safety efforts.
  4. Employee Development: Enhance employee skills and knowledge through training and professional development initiatives, aligning with both business needs and individual career aspirations. Manage staffing, scheduling, and retention within the department.
  5. Operations and Utility Maintenance: Oversee flaker operations, ensuring production aligns with plant schedules while prioritizing customer satisfaction, safety, and quality. Implement effective maintenance programs and safely operate the plant's boiler in compliance with all applicable permits and regulations.
  6. Continuous Improvement: Leverage knowledge of processes to develop and execute improvement initiatives, with a focus on LEAN manufacturing and reliability-centered maintenance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Experience:

  1. At least 5 years in the food industry or grain processing/elevator management.
  2. Minimum of 2 years of direct supervisory experience preferred.
  3. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and leadership capabilities.

Required Job Skills:

Proficiency in MS Word and Excel for administrative tasks, along with experience in plant maintenance programs. Strong communication skills are essential.

Minimum Required Education:

High School Diploma or Equivalent REQUIRED

Bachelor's Degree PREFERRED: Agribusiness Management, Engineering, Food Science, or related fields.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND TRAINING:

  1. Safety Training: OSHA/DOT/Forklift Certified.
  2. Maintenance Certification/LEAN Manufacturing.
  3. Food Safety/Quality Process Training/SQF.
  4. Team Leadership/Problem Solving.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Work in a plant production environment with potential exposure to temperature extremes and the need for PPE.
  2. Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
  3. Ability to stand and walk through the facility as needed.
  4. 30-50% office work.

OTHER RELEVANT JOB INFORMATION:
