Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Current Nursing Assistant Certification in Tennessee is required, or eligibility to obtain certification within four months of employment.
- Strong reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; effective interpersonal and communication abilities; auditory and visual skills; successful completion of a post-offer, pre-employment physical as required.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing and spreadsheets.
- Time management skills to effectively organize and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- At least three months of prior experience as a nursing assistant in a long-term care setting is preferred.
Reporting Structure: This position does not have direct reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist residents with appointments, such as beauty services, activities, and religious services, and engage in activities as directed.
- Safely lift, move, and transport residents using appropriate techniques or equipment to prevent accidents.
- Execute various tasks assigned by the household nurse and Team Leaders, including household checklists, monitoring vital signs, weighing residents, applying topical treatments, and collecting specimens.
- Support residents and their families during the orientation process upon admission and during transfers.
- Deliver care that maintains residents' skin integrity to prevent pressure ulcers and other skin damage through regular changes and repositioning.
- Respond promptly and courteously to residents' call lights.
- Operate laundry equipment, including washers and dryers.
- Assist in folding, stacking, hanging, and distributing laundry and linens as needed.
- Manage soiled laundry and linens appropriately, following established protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness in the environment by sweeping, mopping, and dusting as required.
- Empty and replace liners in waste receptacles daily or as necessary.
- Clean and sanitize all bathroom fixtures and resident areas.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness in vacant rooms.
- Support Team Leaders and new staff through mentoring.
- Safeguard residents' personal belongings and report any missing items according to policy.
- Adhere to safety and infection control procedures, including proper hand hygiene and waste disposal.
- Maintain proficiency in operating necessary equipment and systems for job performance.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
