Position Overview

Michigan State University is in search of a dedicated and empathetic Student Food Assistance Program Coordinator to manage the operations, strategic planning, and community engagement of the MSU Student Food Assistance Program.

This role is crucial in enhancing the food security and overall well-being of students by facilitating access to nutritious food and essential resources.

The ideal candidate will possess robust organizational, leadership, and communication abilities, along with a genuine commitment to service and student support. This position will also provide oversight and direction for the Hunger Free Campus Initiative.

Minimum Qualifications


Knowledge equivalent to that which typically would be acquired through one or two years of post-bachelor degree work, such as a Master's in Administration or a Behavioral Science field; one to three years of relevant and progressively more responsible work experience in administration, program development, and personnel training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Proficiency in written and verbal communication in a foreign language may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Social Work, Public Health, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Human Services, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in food assistance program operations, volunteer management, or related fields.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data management systems.
Experience with grant writing and fundraising is advantageous.
