POSITION OVERVIEW
In this role, you will provide essential nursing care to a designated group of patients, ensuring that their needs align with your professional skills and competencies. You will be expected to complete the required competencies for this position during the introductory period. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: No prior experience required.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Two years of experience in acute care settings, with previous clinical experience in medical/surgical, telemetry, or ICU environments.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES REQUIRED: Current Texas State License for Registered Nurse.
REQUIRED TRAINING/COMPLETIONS:
- Active healthcare provider Basic Life Support certification upon hire (American Red Cross or American Heart Association); AHA Healthcare Provider BLS must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
- AHA ACLS certification is required within 60 days of hire or transfer into this role (for ADULT CRITICAL CARE, TELEMETRY, INTERIM CRITICAL CARE UNITS). Completion should occur before the end of the orientation period.
- AHA PALS certification must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into this role (for PEDI ICU). This should also be completed before the end of the orientation period.
- AHA NRP certification is required within 60 days of hire or transfer into this role (for NICU).
- S.T.A.B.L.E. certification for NICU-Level 2 Nursery must be provided as proof of prior completion or obtained within 6 months of hire or transfer date into the unit (renewal is not necessary).
