Transition Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Transition Specialist to join our team at West Bay RI. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the transition of special education high school students into the workforce.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of students' career interests, skills, and support needs to develop personalized transition plans.
• Collaborate with community businesses to create paid and unpaid work experiences for students and adults with disabilities.
• Coordinate and implement vocational skills training, job shadowing, and work experience activities to help students discover their strengths and interests.
• Facilitate conversations between students and employees to develop natural supports and interpersonal skills.
• Provide training and assistance on job search skills, resume writing, and interviewing techniques.
• Assist students with developing and improving communication skills for the workplace, including active listening, problem-solving, and professional relationships.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Associate's degree in special education, psychology, or a related field.
• ACRE Certification preferred.
• 1-2 years' experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Valid driver's license, vehicle inspection, registration, and insurance.
