Retail Store Associate

As a Retail Store Associate, your primary responsibilities will include product merchandising, inventory stocking, cashier duties, and maintaining cleanliness to ensure the store is well-presented.

You will enhance the shopping experience for customers by collaborating effectively with the ALDI team and delivering outstanding customer service.

Position Type: Full-Time

Average Hours: 32-40 hours per week

Starting Wage: $20.00 per hour

Wage Increases:
Year 2 - $20.50 | Year 3 - $21.00 | Year 4 - $21.00 | Year 5 - $22.00

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit the Mindsets, ALDI Acts Competencies, and Professional Skills (M.A.P.) as required for the role.
  • Process customer transactions, perform general cleaning tasks, and neatly stock shelves and merchandise displays.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service, assisting shoppers throughout their experience.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and communicate effectively with store management.
  • Provide management with feedback regarding products, inventory discrepancies, scanning errors, and general concerns.
  • Participate in inventory counts following established guidelines and monitor inventory accuracy.
  • Adhere to cash handling policies and procedures to minimize losses.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures while maintaining the security and confidentiality of documents and data.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stock merchandise from receiving areas to shelves; capable of placing products weighing up to 45 pounds on shelves at various heights.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, push, pull, lift, carry, and navigate throughout the store.
  • Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older to be employed in this role at ALDI.
  • Ability to provide prompt and courteous customer service.
  • Proficient in operating a cash register efficiently and accurately.
  • Capable of safely and properly using equipment, including electric/manual hand jacks, floor scrubbers, and cardboard balers.
  • Ability to perform general cleaning tasks to meet company standards.
  • Ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow instructions while multitasking professionally and efficiently.
  • Meet any state and local requirements for handling and selling alcoholic beverages.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior experience in a retail environment preferred.
  • A combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.
