Production Team Lead - Graveyard Shift

Job Summary:

The Production Team Lead works side by side their assigned manufacturing team to coordinate the production of the highest quality wood pellet in the safest and most cost-effective manner possible.

Responsibilities:
  • Set the standards on the shift for housekeeping, quality, and productivity.
  • Monitor shift performance and coordinate improvement initiatives.
  • Administer the personal development program for the team.
  • Oversee the operation of various equipment including the green in feed system, dryer system, dry hammer mill system, kiln dried system, pellet mills, and associated machinery.
  • Maintain accurate production and downtime records, including operator logs.
  • Monitor quality test results and address root causes of any deviations from specified ranges.
  • Be qualified to cover all team positions and fill in for absences due to vacation, illness, or other excused reasons.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by the Production Manager.
Skills & Requirements:
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt leadership style as needed and hold the team accountable to high standards.
  • Proven ability to motivate a team and foster a positive work environment.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and process optimization.
  • 3-5 years of leadership experience, ideally in a fast-paced 24/7 manufacturing setting. Direct wood pellet manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Prior experience in manufacturing process troubleshooting; demonstrated delegation and problem-solving abilities are highly valued.
  • Strong coaching, training, and mentoring skills.
  • Proficiency in communication and documentation.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to stand and walk for 80% of the shift, moving between buildings with ease.
  • Flexibility to change positions frequently; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed.
  • Visual acuity to observe equipment and surroundings accurately.
  • Ability to lift and move objects safely.
