Position Overview
We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our team at our flagship manufacturing facility. This role will focus on engineering projects and support capital project initiatives as outlined below:
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify engineering solutions for technical challenges and opportunities within the plant.
- Articulate the scope of solutions through the creation of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), General Arrangements (GAs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and other technical documentation.
- Gather technical requirements and formulate equipment specifications for the defined scope of work.
- Recognize applicable quality standards and best engineering practices.
- Design and size the required scope of work.
- Produce necessary technical documentation.
- Develop and manage project schedules throughout the project lifecycle.
- Estimate costs or collaborate with a Cost Estimator for major projects.
- Create procurement work packages and collaborate with Purchasing to issue Requests for Quotations (RFQs).
- Evaluate bids and technical proposals, involving relevant team members.
- Oversee the review and approval of technical submittals and specifications by engineering consultants, engaging plant personnel as needed.
- Conduct quality inspections and Factory Acceptance Tests at manufacturing sites.
- Provide technical documentation for risk assessments and Process Safety Management evaluations.
- Offer engineering support during construction and installation phases, addressing RFIs and reviewing change orders.
- Ensure completeness of vendor documentation, including Operation & Maintenance manuals.
- Collect training requirements for Operations & Maintenance.
- Conduct substantial completion walks post-installation.
- Coordinate vendor commissioning tasks with plant Operations & Maintenance for startup.
- Compile red-lined and as-built drawings to update final project records.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as a Project Engineer in a heavy industrial environment such as mining or manufacturing.
- Familiarity with material handling, dust collection, and industrial maintenance.
- Understanding of EHS concepts and industrial facility safety regulations.
- Knowledge of EHS rules, regulations, and best practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, with the ability to view and annotate drawings.
- Project management and supervisory capabilities.
- Strong decision-making and leadership abilities.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time.
Compensation ranges from $90,000 to $150,000, with eligibility for discretionary bonuses based on individual contributions and company performance. Imerys also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, life and disability insurance, a 401K matching savings plan, and paid holidays.
