Position Overview
As an Environmental Services Associate, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of various areas within the facility.

Job Responsibilities
  • ROLE SUMMARY: Reporting to the Environmental Services Manager, the Environmental Services Associate is responsible for cleaning and maintaining patient, public, clinical, and administrative spaces, ensuring compliance with the standards set by Lancaster General Hospital.
KEY DUTIES: Candidates must possess the capability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following tasks:
  • Thoroughly cleans all surfaces, including furniture, beds, restrooms, window sills, door frames, vents, televisions, walls, light fixtures, and windows, adhering to universal safety protocols.
  • Utilizes wet and dry mops for cleaning rooms, hallways, staircases, restrooms, and offices; performs spot cleaning and vacuuming of carpets.
  • Collects and disposes of waste and soiled linens in accordance with safety standards. Replenishes supply dispensers as needed.
  • Coordinates with nursing staff regarding patient discharges and transfers, reporting available patient rooms and submitting maintenance requests through the facility's computer system.
  • Responds to routine requests via pager and maintains communication with staff.
  • Handles the removal, washing, and reinstallation of cubicle curtains, shower curtains, and window treatments.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of universal precautions, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), and recycling operations, applying this knowledge as necessary.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The following tasks are considered supplementary to the primary responsibilities listed above:
  • Maintains service closets and housekeeping carts in a clean, organized, and stocked manner.
  • Reports any hospital property or equipment requiring repair, assists in furniture transfers, and performs spot cleaning on furniture as needed.
  • Participates in training sessions and programs as assigned.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Six (6) months of experience in hospitality or medical housekeeping.
