Position Title:
Lineworker. Level II, III, or Sr. will be determined based on experience and skill level.
Location Requirement:
Must reside within 40 miles of the service area headquarters.
Job Overview:
The role involves executing all facets of the Lineworker responsibilities, which encompass the daily maintenance and construction of both overhead and underground electrical infrastructure.
Accountable for various levels of learning, executing, and/or supervising fellow lineworkers, material upkeep, as well as aerial and underground tasks including utility distribution construction activities. A commitment to a Live Safe approach in all duties is essential, ensuring hazards are identified and mitigated.
Key Responsibilities:
Lineworker II:
Proficient in performing underground operations, including energized primary cover up to 34,500 volts.
Understanding transformer principles, including bank installations, tap settings, and the identification and construction of multiple secondary voltage applications.
Capable of learning and executing basic primary voltage switching (up to 34,500 volts) tasks and applications.
Learning and performing troubleshooting, splicing, and repairs on energized underground secondary cable (120/208) circuits.
Ability to identify Network Grids and perform splicing of primary underground cable.
Lineworker III:
Competent in all tasks associated with Helper through Lineworker II.
Ability to construct and maintain underground residential and network grid distribution circuits, including but not limited to, operating pad mount switchgear, installing and troubleshooting URD circuits, and managing switching/tagging of URD primary cable.
Learning three-phase primary tasks, including safe operation and installation/removal of automatic transfer switches and manual switching schemes.
Learning and performing troubleshooting, repair, and phasing of network protectors (120/208V).
Lineworker Sr:
Capable of executing all tasks from Helper through Lineworker III.
Exhibiting strong leadership skills, including indirect crew leadership.
Learning and performing advanced primary voltage switching (up to 34,500 volts) tasks and applications.
Executing advanced Lineworker tasks such as vault construction, identifying and rectifying backfeed situations, troubleshooting and repairing energized 277/480V network protectors, and automatic transfer switches.
Performing complex troubleshooting of underground circuits using VLF, capacitor discharge, TDR, and Arc Reflexional Methods.
Understanding network protector relay schemes and Secondary Mesh Network Systems.
All levels must be able to:
Maintain an organized job site to ensure safety.
Complete and perform all mandated training (Lineworker I-Sr) as necessary, including First Aid, CPR, etc.
Minimum Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum Experience:
Lineworker Mech, II: 1.5 to 2 years of field distribution experience required.
Lineworker Mech,
III:
2.5 to 3 years of field distribution experience required.
Lineworker Mech, Sr: 3.5 to 4 years of field distribution experience required.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must pass fitness for duty testing and demonstrate physical capability to perform required tasks in all weather conditions.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to understand directives and complete tasks.
Commitment to safety and adherence to all Entergy safety policies and procedures.
Ability to learn through classroom instruction, on-the-job training, and repetitive tasks.
Recognizing hazards in the workplace and the ability to mitigate them.
Properly maintaining and caring for Company equipment and safeguarding assets.
Interacting with the public in a pleasant and tactful manner, understanding the importance of high-level customer service.
Demonstrating acceptance of a diverse and inclusive work environment and customer base. Additionally, must be able to traverse all types of terrain.
Certificates, Licenses, etc:
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Must have the ability to obtain a Class-A CDL.

As a provider of essential services, Entergy expects its employees to be available for additional hours, to work in alternate locations, and/or to perform additional duties in connection with storms, outages, emergencies, or other situations as deemed necessary by the company.
