Job Title: Registered Nurse Case Manager

Spectrum Healthcare Resources is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse Case Manager to join our team in Portland, Maine. As a Registered Nurse Case Manager, you will play a critical role in providing nursing services to injured Federal workers who have immediate time loss and have not returned to work within a specified number of days.

Job Summary:

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of adult medical/surgical nursing experience and a minimum of two years of case management experience in the workers' compensation arena. Alternatively, a minimum of one year of adult medical/surgical nursing experience and three years of case management experience in the workers' compensation arena will also be considered.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide nursing services to injured Federal workers who have immediate time loss and have not returned to work within a specified number of days.
  • Manage a case typically from 4 to 6 months, following up with the physician's office and employee's supervisor to coordinate light duty, job accommodations, and return to work date.
  • Enter necessary and any relevant information regarding each case into the OWCP/DFEC case management system.
  • Complete monthly reports detailing the status of the case and all activities completed during the month.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Active state or compact RN license to work in the assigned areas.
  • A minimum of two years adult medical/surgical nursing experience and a minimum of two years case management experience in the workers' compensation arena.
  • OR a minimum of one year of adult medical/surgical nursing experience and three years of Case Management experience in the workers' compensation arena.
  • Ability to handle confidential patient information.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with injured workers, employer, and treating physician's office.
  • Have knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic word processing, data entry, and automated record.
  • Specialized certification in one of the following areas: Occupational Health (COHN); Insurance Rehabilitation (CIRS/CRRN), Disability Management (CDMS), and/or Nurse Case Manager Board Certified (ANCC/ANA) is preferred but not required.
  • Recent experience with the DFEC nurse intervention program is also preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
  • Certified Case Manager (CCM).
