Engineering Project Manager

**Job Summary**

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Project Manager to join our team at Essel. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for overseeing all engineering operations, including budgeting, scheduling, and directing subordinates. You will also prioritize multiple projects and deadlines, and communicate effectively with management staff.

**Key Responsibilities**

* Coordinate and prioritize workload within the engineering department to ensure efficient and cost-effective utilization of staff
* Understand project scope and communicate it to support staff
* Monitor and maintain project budgets and productivity
* Advise and assist engineers and staff with company policy, process, and methods
* Demonstrate creativity, foresight, and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving problems

**Project Management**

* Oversee the preparation of improvement plans, specifications, supporting documents, and permit applications for subdivisions, commercial developments, multi-family developments, and public works projects
* Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria for the production of construction documentation for land development projects
* Design grading, drainage, paving, sewer, water, street lighting, road alignment, geometrics, shed maps, and erosion control plans

**Collaboration and Communication**

* Work closely with CAD Supervisor, Project Managers, Engineers, and Surveyors to obtain project information and ensure drawings are accurate and complete
* Coordinate with Surveying Department to obtain required information
* Identify long lead items or project critical requirements

**Quality and Accuracy**

* Provide clear and concise redline sketches for grading and street sections, utility hardware details, and other site improvement details
* Direct work of Drafters and Technicians by providing plans, specifications, and written and verbal instructions
* Perform civil design calculations, including cost estimates, drainage, sewer studies, voltage drop, and pressure drop calculations

**Code Research and Compliance**

* Research code issues and work with City, State, and County officials to understand jurisdictional standards, policies, and local design procedural manuals
* Review drawings supplied by vendors, clients, engineers, and architects and recommend necessary changes

**Additional Responsibilities**

* Attend 'kick-off' and design review meetings and interact with clients
* Coordinate with other engineers, technicians, and administrative assistants during preliminary and final plan preparation and submittal
* Draft written communication to clients and public agencies

**Requirements**

* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
* 5+ years of experience in engineering project management
* Strong knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and techniques
* Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
