General Liability Claims Professional

Artera is seeking a highly skilled Claims Manager to join our team. As a Claims Manager, you will be responsible for managing general liability claims while under the general supervision of the Senior Claims Director. This role requires a strong understanding of general liability coverage and the ability to effectively manage claims from initial notification to resolution.
Key Responsibilities- Receive initial notification of claims and guide employees on how to properly manage the circumstances.
- Investigate claims for cause, compensability, and liability.
- Track the receipt of the appropriate paperwork for all claims, set up claim files, and enter information into the Risk Management Information System (RMIS) upon receipt.
- Oversee reporting of claims to Artera's insurance carriers. Forward necessary information to insurance carriers and maintain accurate documentation of claims by placing copies of all related paperwork in RMIS.
- Actively track open claims and interface with Artera's insurance carriers, physicians, and other third parties to ensure that claims are being managed aggressively.
- Negotiate, settle, and process payments for nominal claims.
- Responsible for managing third-party subrogation claims for which Artera is not liable.
- Prepare operations and risk reports for management analysis. Provide benchmarking information as necessary.
- Analyze and classify risks as to frequency and potential severity and measure the financial impact of risk on Artera.
- Respond to inquiries and complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, and members of the business community.
- Identify trends and collaborate with the Safety Department to identify which safety issues are driving frequency and severity in Artera's auto, worker's compensation, and property damage losses.
- Prepare quarterly loss data on recordable and preventable accidents.
- Classify injuries per government and company criteria. Track lost/restricted days.
- Administer Ohio worker's compensation self-insured claims per Ohio BWC standards.
- Ensure that state-specific information received from the carrier is disseminated to the appropriate area office.
- Attend Safety incident reviews and update the RMIS accordingly.
- Attend Safety Meetings and Compliance Trainings to present field personnel with information regarding damage reporting.
- Travel up to 10%.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Certifications
Required: High school diploma. Significant post-secondary course work.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree from accredited university
Experience
Required: 4+ years general liability claims and/or construction safety
Preferred: 7+ years multi line coverage with or for a construction company.
Functional / Technical Competency Requirements
Required: General computer skills including MS Outlook, Word and Excel. Working knowledge of general liability coverage. Read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Sense of urgency in responding to inquiries and complaints. Effectively present data to management team, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
