POSITION OVERVIEW:

A proficient nursing professional responsible for delivering direct patient care to a designated cohort of individuals, equipped with the expertise and capabilities to adhere to the standards of professional nursing practice as outlined in the Texas Nurse Practice Act. Effectively collaborates as a vital member of a multidisciplinary care team that prioritizes patient-centered approaches. Capable of managing unforeseen or critical situations commonly encountered in the designated specialty population. Acts as a resource for fellow nursing personnel.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Independently and competently evaluates, plans, implements, assesses, and documents the daily care of assigned patients.
  • Accurately identifies patient care requirements, formulates relevant nursing diagnoses, develops and customizes care plans, and modifies care strategies as necessary.
  • Efficiently executes physician directives for all assigned patients: Administers medications and treatments while delivering culturally sensitive and specialty-appropriate nursing care in accordance with institutional policies, procedures, and standards in a compassionate manner.
  • Independently performs both routine and advanced technical procedures/skills within the assigned specialty area.
  • Strategically plans, coordinates, and prioritizes patient care activities based on skill level and complexity of tasks.
  • Complies with internal controls and reporting structures established for the department.
  • Undertakes related responsibilities as required.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:

Standard patient care supplies, equipment, and mechanical devices.

WORK SETTING:

Positioned within a correctional facility or juvenile detention center. Security clearance is mandatory; pre-employment drug screening is also a requirement.
