St Josephs Hospital is seeking a Board Certified Internist to join our Internal Medicine Residency Faculty team located in Syracuse, New York.

As a faculty member, you will be responsible for:

  • Following ACGME guidelines and assisting in the recruitment and selection of residents.
  • Providing mentorship, teaching, and clinical oversight to residents, supporting scholarly productivity among residents.
  • Maintaining collaborative relationships with peer educators, assisting in resident assessment and progression, and contributing to the success of strategic missions of the department and institution.
  • Being a staunch advocate for the program and disciplines of family medicine and community health across the institution, regionally and nationally.

You will maintain an active clinical practice caring for hospitalized adults on the residency teaching service.

The schedule for this opportunity is two weeks per month with a traditional hospitalist work week, Monday - Sunday with one call for admissions per week.

You will ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the medical treatment facility and request timely consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated.

The qualified candidate will exude passion about academic medicine and demonstrate evidence of comprehensive assessment skills, expert clinical skills, and problem-solving abilities.

Requirements:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree
  • Successful completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency program
  • Board certified through the American Board of Internal Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine
  • Current, unrestricted medical license in New York, or ability to obtain
  • Valid controlled substance registration with the New York board of Pharmacy & DEA
  • Prefer candidates with 2 years experience
