The Department of Fire Services is seeking a highly skilled District Engineering Inspector to join our team in Stow, Massachusetts. As a key member of our Boiler and Pressure Vessel unit, you will be responsible for conducting inspections, investigations, and testing of boilers and pressure vessels to ensure compliance with state laws and regulations, national codes, and manufacturer specifications.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting inspections of boilers and pressure vessels to determine compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Investigating incidents and accidents related to boilers and pressure vessels
  • Testing and evaluating the condition of boilers and pressure vessels
  • Rendering decisions regarding equipment safety and making recommendations for certificate of inspection issuance
  • Providing support to the Boiler and Pressure Vessel unit and representing the agency at hearings and in court

This is a full-time position with regular work hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with opportunities for telework and a hybrid work model. Salary placement is determined by years of experience directly related to the position.

Requirements include a current and valid First Class Stationary Engineers License issued by the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services and one of the following certifications: NAARSO or National Board Commission. A valid motor vehicle driver's license may also be required.
