The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) division is looking for a Senior Linux Operations Engineer to become part of our Space Domain Awareness and Space Superiority team.
Key Responsibilities:
In this role, you will oversee and manage various Windows and Unix/Linux-based systems across multiple local area networks (LANs). As a key member of our compact team, you will engage regularly with clients, subcontractors, and colleagues while working onsite.
- Oversee all aspects of Windows and UNIX/Linux systems in operational, engineering, analytical, and testing environments.
- Develop and sustain Space Domain Awareness and Space Superiority hardware and software resources aligned with mission objectives for both routine and exceptional operations. Conduct data collection on equipment, including Government Furnished Equipment (GFE).
- Manage system and user account maintenance.
- Implement, evaluate, and verify cybersecurity configurations of Windows and Linux servers within a Risk Management Framework (RMF) environment.
- Install, analyze, test, and apply cybersecurity patches and hardening measures.
- Monitor, assess, and enhance system performance. Conduct system backup and restore operations. Troubleshoot operating system issues.
- Provide support for telephone and physical recall for system anomalies as necessary.
- Offer system administration support and assistance for development systems.
- Construct, cyber-harden, and configure systems.
- Develop disaster recovery strategies. Execute preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
- Document maintenance activities.
All tasks are performed onsite to comply with security standards and protocols.
This position necessitates an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required) with the capability to obtain a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartment Information (TS/SCI) security clearance and program access.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- 5+ years in System Administration or Network Administration.
- 5+ years of experience with UNIX/Linux.
- 5+ years utilizing centralized services including Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), Domain Name Services (DNS), and system/file recording for system failure recovery (back-ups).
- 3+ years of experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF) policies and implementation.
- One or more current DoD 8140 (previously 8570) IAT, Level II Certification: CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, GCIH, CCSP.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Proficiency in scripting with Power Shell, Bash, or Python.
- Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
- Linux Certification: Red Hat Certified Engineer, Red Hat System Administrator, or Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC).
Typical Education & Experience:
Lead (level 4): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g., Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
Lead (level 5): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g., Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
Relocation:
