In this capacity, you will formulate technically sound solutions that comply with safety, regulatory, and quality standards while ensuring a seamless transition of innovative products and their technologies through the product development lifecycle, leading to successful manufacturing.

The role demands scientific proficiency, the ability to act as a product advocate, and the capability to collaborate within a matrix organization, fostering teamwork with both local and international R&I teams.

As a Lead Chemist in Hair Care & Styling Development, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Creating and executing new innovations in Hair Care and Hair Styling.
  • Proposing novel technical concepts in the Hair Care and Styling domain.
  • Collaborating closely with scale-up teams, global marketing, product safety, regulatory affairs, and evaluation testing centers to facilitate the smooth transition of new products and technologies through the development process.
  • Effectively communicating and presenting new product technologies to colleagues across various locations and functions within the organization.
  • Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of competitor patent landscapes, consumer insights, market gaps, and emerging trends.
  • Providing guidance and mentorship to technical project staff and supervising them on a project basis.

To excel in this role, you should possess:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field is essential; a Master's or PhD is preferred.
  • 5-7 years of pertinent experience in hair product research and development, along with product formulation expertise.
  • Advanced skills in formulation, analytical techniques, and project management.
  • The ability to independently manage projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely launches while driving initiatives forward with minimal oversight.
  • Leadership capabilities to guide project team members and share specialized knowledge.
  • Proven creativity and resourcefulness in addressing technical challenges that may arise during product development or technology transfer to manufacturing.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant IT and R&I laboratory systems.
  • The physical ability to lift 35 lbs (11.3 kg) as required.
  • The requirement to be present onsite, as this is a critical aspect of the role.
  • Authorization to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent basis without the need for legal sponsorship.
