POSITION SUMMARY
The Residential Services Coordinator plays a crucial role in guiding individuals as they move from temporary accommodations to stable housing solutions.
This position entails identifying long-term housing opportunities, curating and updating a comprehensive database of housing resources, facilitating one-on-one consultations and group sessions focused on housing challenges, and offering referrals, advocacy, follow-up, and support with housing applications.
The Coordinator also forges collaborations with governmental and community organizations to enhance clients' access to sustainable housing options.Salary Range:
$48,000 - $53,000
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Evaluate clients' housing requirements and create tailored plans to secure safe and affordable living arrangements.
2. Determine clients' eligibility for government-assisted housing programs, including subsidies and benefits.
3. Aid clients in completing applications for permanent housing.
4. Identify and assist clients in gathering necessary documentation for housing applications.
5. Provide individual counseling, advocacy, and support to clients.
6. Design and conduct educational workshops and group sessions centered on housing topics (such as available resources, apartment search strategies, mock interviews, and best practices).
7. Establish and maintain a resource database, including listings of brokers, landlords, and property management firms.8. Engage in community outreach initiatives to discover housing opportunities.
9. Cultivate and sustain relationships with government partners and supportive community organizations.
10. Participate in team meetings, case discussions, and meetings with potential brokers and landlords.
11. Represent the organization at city and statewide coalitions, task forces, and committees related to housing.
12. Assist with administrative reporting and program evaluation in collaboration with the Program Director.
13. Be available for daily on-call updates to relevant authorities.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree or a High School diploma with three (3) years of experience in housing placement.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of two years of counseling experience and two years in housing development/management, real estate, or case management.
- Familiarity with housing regulations and reporting requirements.
- Flexibility in scheduling as needed.
- Demonstrated sensitivity and experience with, or knowledge of, homelessness in marginalized communities, including individuals identifying as LGBTQ+, the elderly, and those facing substance abuse or mental health challenges.
- Possess the knowledge and skills necessary to establish strong connections with city and private housing agencies and the ability to secure permanent housing for the homeless population.
- Excellent communication skills, proficiency in writing and documenting case notes, experience in group counseling, understanding of family dynamics, sensitivity to the needs of homeless families, and a proven ability to advocate and provide follow-up on housing matters, along with the capability to conduct housing-specific workshops.
